studie bring onverwagste wysheid..

dis mooi.

(is jou verhoudings reg?) ratios.
die "ratio" van eie- ego tot Skepper
die "ratio" van laf na ernstig...
etc.

dan vind samesmelting plaas.
daar is 'n spesifieke datum betrokke.
ek sal later meer vertel... moet nou eers swot. Alles trek my aandag af van studeer.

CIMA

yay eks weer 'n student!
Ek pak CIMA aaan
(Chartered Institute of Management Accounting)
klaskamer:
( 79 Roeland straat )

Overkill as jy my vra. hy lyk ambisieus en ry 'n ou BMW.

Hy is in IT.

(Of hoe gaan die gesegde?)

lekker slaap.

Change and Transformation.

Today I learnt something new.
Change may happen to you (in other words, it may come from external and impact you)
The facilitator presented it graphically like this:
beginning --------- implementation ---------- end
but Transformation occurs inside of you and it looks like this:
End of a chapter / closure --------Neutral state (assembling info) ----- new beginning

I find that I move too fast between cycles and then leave my heart panting and out of breath 20km behind me, feeling lost and disjointed.
I expect it to embrace new beginnings, but I have not even given it room to find closure of that which is no longer.

it is no wonder my heart is so angry.

waarvandaan sal my hulp dan kom....

aanbieder Lizel Stephan.

Trust is the one thing that changes everything. Jack Welch said, when asked about a definition for "trust", You'll know when you feel it.
So, how does it feel?

when I trust someone, I feel safe with that person. I feel no fear that judgement will be passed, I feel that the confidentiality is in tact and I feel that who they are (their integrity, their congruency) provides me with the necessary firmness to share.
That is when the conversation flows. It is an open channel and often there are few interactions so intimate than true sharing/ trusting.

The course started off by highlighting the global trust challenge.
Mahatma Gandhi said "The moment there is suspicion about a person's motive, everything he does becomes tainted."

One out of every 2 marriages end in divorce and people have little trust in the media and less in the politicians.
David Halpern did a survey about the deterioration of trust in England.
1960's people's trust in society /each other was 60% and today 29%. So we live and operate on a societal foundation of mistrust.
It is impossible to trust anybody if I do not trust myself
The only area or point of control is self-trust.
but that is important as self trust spreads to relationship-trust, which ripples out to organisational trust.
Trust has to do with acting the way I feel and being congruent.
Trust is making people feel that my intentions are clear and understood.
Trust is doing what I say I'll do.
if I say I want to lose weight then I cannot order sweet-things time and again. I'm breaking my trust in myself and I'm not setting a good track record for those around me.

If I say : I'll get back to you ( and I don't ) then I am proving in some small way that I am untrustworthy. Small things stakc up and little cations constitute your day (then your week and then your life)

So I was thinking about the ways in which I break down the trust people have in me.
I realised that it is very important to say no , rather than maybe.
I realised how important it is to say" I'm not sure, please provide me with more info before I can give you a commitment now"

What a valuable day ful of learning for me.

so: my hulp kom van verskeie bronne.

Have you ever had a to-do list that was so long it felt like you'd never get to the end of it? Or have you ever started the day with a manageable list, but by the end of the afternoon it was longer than when you began – because of all the things that got added during the day? Too many days like this, and your to-do list starts to look like a wish list.

There has been much discussion about the value of the “creative pause” – a state described as “the shift from being fully engaged in a creative activity to being passively engaged, or the shift to being disengaged altogether.”
This phenomenon is the seed of the break-through “a-ha!” moments that people so frequently report having in the shower.

In these moments, you are
completely isolated, and your mind is able to wander and churn big questions without interruption.

However, despite the incredible power and potential of sacred spaces, they are quickly becoming extinct. We are depriving ourselves of every opportunity for disconnection. And our imaginations suffer the consequences.

Why do we crave distraction over downtime?

Why do we give up our sacred space so easily? Because space is scary.
During these temporary voids of distraction, our minds return to the uncertainty and fears that plague all of us.
To escape this chasm of self-doubt and unanswered questions, you tune into all of the activity and data for reassurance.

But this desperate need for constant connection and stimulation is not a modern problem. I would argue that we have always sought a state of constant connection from the dawn of time, it’s just never been possible until now.

We are depriving ourselves of every opportunity for disconnection.

♪ ♪

The need to be connected is, in fact, very basic in Maslow's hierarchy of needs, the psychological theory that explains the largest and most fundamental human desires. Our need for a sense of belonging comes right after physical safety. We thrive on friendship, family, and the constant affirmation of our existence and relevance.
Our self-esteem is largely a product of our interactions with others.

It is now possible to always feel loved and cared for, thanks to the efficiency of our “comment walls” on Facebook and seamless connection with everyone we've ever known.
Your confidence and self-esteem can quickly be reassured by checking your number of “followers” on Twitter or the number of “likes” garnered by your photographs and blog posts. The traction you are getting in your projects, or with your business, can now be measured and reported in real time.

Our insatiable need to tune into information – at the expense of savoring our downtime – is a form of “work” (something I call “insecurity work”) that we do to reassure ourselves.

So what’s the solution? How do we reclaim our sacred spaces?

Soon enough, planes, trains, subways, and, yes, showers will offer the option of staying connected. Knowing that we cannot rely on spaces that force us to unplug to survive much longer, we must be proactive in creating these spaces for ourselves. And when we have a precious opportunity to NOT be connected, we should develop the capacity to use it and protect it.

Here are five potential mindsets and solutions for consideration:

1. Rituals for unplugging.

Perhaps those in biblical times knew what was in store for us when they created the Sabbath? The notion of a day every week reserved for reflection has become more important than ever before. It's about more than just refraining from work.

It's about unplugging. The recent Sabbath Manifesto movement has received mainstream, secular accolades for the concept of ritualizing the period of disconnection.
Perhaps you will reserve one day on the weekend where you force yourself to disconnect? At first, such efforts will feel very uncomfortable. You will deal with a bout of “connection withdrawal,” but stay with it.

2. Daily doses of deep thinking.

Perhaps “sacred space” is a new life tenet that we must adopt in the 21st century? Since we know that unplugging will only become more difficult over time, we will need to develop a discipline for ourselves. Back in the day when the TV became a staple of every home, parents started mandating time for their children to read. “TV time” became a controlled endeavor because, otherwise, it would consume every waking moment.
Now, every waking moment is “connected time,”
and we need to start controlling it.

We need some rules. When it comes to scheduling, we will need to allocate blocks of time for deep thinking. Maybe you will carve out a 1-2 hour block on your calendar every day for taking a walk or grabbing a cup of coffee and just pondering some of those bigger things.
I can even imagine a day when homes and apartments have a special switch that shuts down wi-fi and data access during dinner or at night - just to provide a temporary pause from the constant flow of status updates and other communications.

3. Meditation and naps to clear the mind.

There is no better mental escape from our tech-charged world than the act of meditation. If only for 15 minutes, the ability to steer your mind away from constant stimulation is downright liberating. There are various kinds of meditation. Some forms require you to think about nothing and completely clear your mind. (This is quite hard, at least for me.) Other forms of meditation are about focusing on one specific thing - often your breath, or a mantra that you repeat in your head (or out loud) for 10-15 minutes. At first, any sort of meditation will feel like a chore. But with practice, it will become an energizing exercise.

If you can't adopt meditation, you might also try clearing your mind the old fashioned way – by sleeping. The legendary energy expert and bestselling author Tony Schwartz takes a 20-minute nap every day.

♪ ♪ ♪

4. Self-awareness and psychological investment.

Our most basic fears and desires, both conscious and subconscious, are soothed by connectivity and a constant flow of information. It is supremely important that we recognize the power of our insecurities and, at the very least, acknowledge where our anxiety comes from. Awareness is always the first step in solving any problem.

During research for my book, Making Ideas Happen, I was surprised by how many legendary creative leaders credited some form of therapy as a part of their professional success. If you're willing to invest in it, then take the plunge. Whatever you learn will help you understand your fears and the actions you take as a result.

5. Protect the state of no-intent.

When you're rushing to a solution, your mind will jump to the easiest and most familiar path. But when you allow yourself to just look out the window for 10 minutes – and ponder – your brain will start working in a more creative way.
It will grasp ideas from unexpected places. It's this very sort of unconscious creativity that leads to great thinking. When you're driving or showering, you're letting your mind wander because you don’t have to focus on anything in particular. If you do carve out some time for unobstructed thinking, be sure to free yourself from any specific intent.

♪

The potential of our own creativity is rapidly being compromised by the era we live in. I believe that genius in the 21st century will be attributed to people who are able to unplug from the constant state of reactionary workflow, reduce their amount of insecurity work, and allow their minds to solve the great challenges of our era.

Brilliance is so rare because it is
always obstructed, often by the very stuff that keeps us so busy.

what is real... the thrill of weekend or the tired- and numbness of Monday?
which is MORE real?

Is being happy and at peace more real than being frantic and edgy? like, can you measure it and say that yes, Saturday is 2grams more real than Monday-blues?

Is "real" dependent on my mood? my diet? my (deluxe) coffee intake? Is my happy and excited mood 30 grams more real than my diligent/ I have a duty to this world- real?

Speaking of which...

South Africa is at the very beginning of the introduction to what is known as the “Third Wave’ of coffee. The market is wide open and begging for artisan roasted coffee. Coffee is the second largest traded commodity worldwide and has not been marketed correctly in South Africa, other than a handful of chain stores which still only produce consistently average coffee.

Tragic (?) Chris Couremetis, in his 30s, was shot at the Cradle Restaurant in Muldersdrift, west of Johannesburg, on Sunday.

Times-gone-by- Tuesday:
I wish I rather lived in the days where news reached you by telegraph.

Totally random Tuesday-script from Tony Parsons:

“Wholeness is not interested in saving the Earth or becoming enlightened… Everything that happens is the expression of wholeness… Seeking and suffering is wholeness…” Tony Parsons

Suffering is a thought in mind; just as “joy” or “sadness”, “happiness” or “freedom”, “bondage” or “liberation”, “good” and “bad” are also just thoughts. Fundamentally there is no difference between a thought or a feeling, they are subjective and synonymous.

Prior to a thought or feeling, a thought and feeling is simply unlabeled [energy]; an impulse of life. Prior to the thought of bondage [you] are. Prior to the thought of freedom, [you] are.
After the thought of joy or sadness, [you] are.
The degree to which [you] suffer will be determined by the focus of [your] attention to the labels and judgments you have placed on [your] self and life. If the focus of [your] attention is on a thought, feeling or circumstance of bondage you will enmesh yourself in bondage. If [your] attention is fixated, obsessed or overwhelmed by thoughts, feelings, emotions, perceptions, associations or memories of the past, you will also be in the past.

The [you] that you imagine yourself to be will struggle as long is it is identified to the psycho/emotional identity you call the “me”; the [you] that you imagine yourself to be will suffer.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

The real [you] is already free. It waits patiently in the background of your awareness; it waits unconditionally. It is the background of all that was, is, and will be. The background is both the potential of the foreground and the foreground simultaneously.

We spend most of our life being present to a false self; the self that live that appears t live in the foreground, the self that we imagine ourselves to be with all its labels, with all its judgments, with all its distinctions. Whether it be a thought, feeling, emotion, perception, association or memory; when our attention is caught up in the details of the false self, we will experience a false reality.

We will never see reality as it is; we will only see the mirage of being an “I”.
As long as our attention is focused on the foreground of the mirage that is our imagined life, we will suffer.

As long as we ignore the background of Being we will feed our mind and we will swim in the distortion of its confusion; we will be distracted by the [ignorance] of that mirage and all the thoughts, feelings, emotions, perceptions, memories and associations that make up that mind. The mirage of our imagined self has become a mask that can only hide the truth of our true nature.

To place our attention on the background of Being from which everything arises, is to [create] the space in which [transformation] can occur. We become what we are. We become what we always were.
There is no evolution in consciousness; there is only a [shift] in attention from the foreground being to the background of Being. There can be no evolution in wholeness. The only perceived evolution is in ideas; ideas that come from the mind only.

Wholeness is.

Wholeness is, and [you] are.

[You] are wholeness.

Better said, [you] are a symptom of wholeness.

You are a symptom of consciousness. Consciousness does not need to evolve because consciousness already is. Wholeness is already.

[You] are already.

The only reason consciousness appears to be evolving is because the [you] that you imagine yourself to be, appears to be standing on the “outside” looking “in”. As soon as [you] realize where you are standing you can let go of your stance, and the illusion of a mirage collapses.
Can you be present with your wholeness?

Can [you] see and allow that wholeness to express itself as anger and confusion, fear or love, joy and sadness?
Can you see wholeness as the expression of “up” and “down”, “in” and “out”, “here” or “there”?

Can [you] allow [your] attention to settle into the background of Being where eternity has always resided; where there is only wholeness, where there is no coming or going, arising or subsiding, loss or gain?

Can [you] see that the seen and the unseen are One and the same?
