With this crazy time on our hands...

With this crazy party-season on our hands ( little time for reflection) we are to juggle the good times...
My husband is affording me the opportunity to relocate from the ironing-board downstairs to the pc (upstairs).
- joke- :)

he's out and I have not had a chance to blog, browse or bake new entries for this site.
I am scrolling through facebook: friends (and friends of other friends') parties and hen-nights and kitchen teas and bachelorette's and Christmas-parties and I see fabulous, vibrant young women taking the world by storm... graciously in their high-heels.. and it gives me goose-bumps.

Its like New York on your doorstep...( if you manage to look past the "bergie"digging for something non-bio-degradable) and if you can turn your attention to the funky- unique creative match of styles we have RIGHT here in our living rooms, at "Kamersvol Geskenke", at JC Le Roux-brunches and even in our boardrooms....

I see the unbelievable new Mac-lip colour, the Uber-cool mix of fabric & texture of the 20- and 30-somethings who show no regard for rigid style -rules...
it is awesome...
and i am so inspired

I attended a preschool end of year concert and voila:
stylish moms with neat brows and soft- as- cashmere hearts.. they really want the best for their kids and they go all the way.
Such passion

They coordinate meals, dress to "wow"and do the home-work with the 7-year old. I take my hat off to them.
Here are some pics of the stunning Saturday-morning in Durbanville Church Hall and the little angels who teach us so much about looking good in photos:
just be natural
be understatedly- fabulous

cheers
Maria

phew.. out of breath but with a smile on my face

Jann and Inge (to my left and right) are my inspiration.
Determination personified.
Metropolitan hosted on of the last road-race events of the 2009- runners' calender and a year ago I would not have paid it much attention.

Inge and I started running in May.
A lovely open-air alternative to sweaty gyms. The winter provided crisp evenings around Sonstraal Dam and as summer lept up on us (we experienced cold & rainy weather a couple of weeks ago) our running pattern shifted into evening-runs. Thanks ladies for an excellent start to December, Love Maria

Metropolitan 10km

This was my wifes 2nd 10km race. I am so proud of her!!!! This race had a lot of hills and was a challenging 10km, but she managed to finish it in 68mins. WOW!

Yebo, I just now need to speak to Lolenthando

So you can only imagine where I am going with this...

Got home at 6:20 am from my night shift this morning and immediately climbed in bed, only to find a mini nuclear station. It is amazing how much body heat Maria generates and if we snuggle, I can only tolerate the heat for a while. This might sound personal, but I think she might have some plutonium inside her.

Anyway she left for work and continued sleeping, only to be woken up at around 10am by the phone ringing of the hook. I left it to go to voice mail, but it rang again 2mins later. So I jumped up and got it in time. This is how it sounded:

Chris: Hello Chris speaking
Person: Yebo, I need to speak to Lolenthando.
Chris: Sorry you got the wrong number.
Person:  eish.

and the phone went dead. I went back to bed and I just managed to doze off when the phone rang again. Jumped up again and this is how it sounded:

Chris: Hello Chris speaking
Person: Yebo, I want to speak to Lolenthando.
Chris: You called just now and I told you Sorry you got the wrong number.
Person: (silence.......)
Chris: Do you understand me?
Person: Yebo, but do you have the number for Lolenthando?
Chris:@#%#!%#$@#@##$$^**&^$%$ !!!!!!!
Idiot: (silence.......)
Chris: Now please don't call again!!

Yes, you guessed it! My phone rang 2 times again after that and then I disconnected it from the wall. I managed to sleep like a baby after that though! Has this ever happened to you? I bet!!!!

Monday night very late....

quiet
dark angel
speaks many tongues, but
confuses mine

sweet safety
in the pale embrace
Gabriel

watching
over
me
now
i
can
sleep

Monday night

This is a significant moment...
My husband has created this terrific space for me to share my thoughts
and now
I'm scared stiff

how do you share to the world what you feel
making it cheap

and accessible

and broad

and wide

...

unthinkable...

but once the pen has its ink flowing through your veins... there is little stopping you..
like a dirty addict...

going back for
more
and more

and

knowing
it
is

killing

him

or
her

and so:
there exists no poise
or grace in my feelings for you...
its an
embarrassing

tumble

of

emotion

Monday night

This is a watershed moment...
My husband has created this terrific space for me to share

will be blogging.....

but sharing is incredibly scary. It requires boldness and a sense of exhibitionism, both of which I am uncomfortable with. Discomfort.
like wearing a tie that is bound too tightly. It is just short of suffocating you.
Discomfort.
Feeling energies clash in a room or around a table. I'll do plenty to avoid that.
but words provide me with comfort.

Comfort.
your favourite jeans, a cup of tea, a crisp Saturday-morning.
Comfort.
a smile from your friend, not just where the corners of the mouth turns skywards, but the smiling of the eyes.

Comfort.
Knowing
You
are
Known.

and so; I'll blog.
and play
and talk
and love
and hurt
and live

Monday night

This is a watershed moment...
writing
sharing
publicly
blogging
poetry
daunting
agonizing
compelling
addicted
