merkwaardige vrou....

Julie Daley is 'n wyse en doelbewuste-denker.
sy skryf die mooiste uittreksels van bewondering....
sy bewonder die lewe
sy kyk fyn na interaksie
sy vind iets heilig in gefokuste asemhaling
en sy lewe met 'n bewussyn van
"wow".
kyk hierdie mooi begin van haar weeklikse e-briefie:

I suddenly felt a strong sense of the miraculous nature of life…
just being here is a miracle.
When we’re not judging what is happening, a soft sort of joy and love is present.

I hope you fill these weekend days with times to simply soak in
 the wonderment all around you.

a Spanish Sacrifice

I've discovered this magical Spanish blog:

just let these drawings scribble all over your heart and cause your face to smile....

Mr Mandela....speak to us.

I've been reading about the ANC's 2nd transition document...
and their policy-discussions...
and then this came across my way today...

‘If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head.
If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart.’
  ~Nelson Mandela

Welsh terrier en die Onmoontlike bloedlyn...

ek kan dit nie glo nie.
die een hond, enkel, Uno...
waarop ek verlief raak...

is skaars.
nee, regtig, soos in "aan die uitsterf "
"protected pets list...."
min het ek geweet dat hulle in die jaar 2000 ingevoer is
en van daar het die getalle net NOOIT toegeneem nie.
daar is slegs 17 mense in die land wat die regte, skoon bloedlyn het.
 ♥
Chris sê my so 'n maand terug dat hy nie telers kry nie...
eintlik: hy kry nêrens 'n klein- Welsh Terrier nie...
my eerste reaksie:

jy kry Yorkshire Terriers,
 Scottish Terriers,
 Irish terriers, Bull terriers,
Airedale Terriers...
en dan natuurlik my geliefde:
Welsh Terriers.

kyk wat sê wikipedia:

"Welsh Terriers were developed to hunt independently
and this required that they be very assertive and stoic dogs.
As a consequence, developing obedience in a Welsh Terrier
 is a long term proposition
and one has to constantly work on and reinforce the training.

They rank 53rd in Stanley Coren's The Intelligence of Dogs, being of average working/obedience intelligence.
This, however, does not mean that Welsh Terriers
fail to learn or understand commands,
just that they tend to make their own decisions;
thus the need for constant reinforcement.
 When acting on their own,
they are quite creative
and quick in decision making."

Dit is so so my tipe hond !!

so- Lang storie kort te knip:
ons is eers om die bos gelei deur 'n skelm-smous-pseudo- puppy-verkoper in Durban...
gelukkig geen finansiele skade nie,
Chris het dadelik 'n rot geruik...

Nou by die ware Jakob:

ons is op die waglys....
ons is nommer 18!
maar omdat ons die Goodwood-man verseker het
dat ons nie gaan teel nie, bump hy ons op na nommer 3.
ons wil net 'n troeteldier hê.
Troetel dier.
mooi woord.
regtig
al wat
ek wil
hê.
vir Kersfees ( of so wil dit my voorkom... )
ons due-date is Kersfees.

person of the week: Robert Collier

It is your work
to clear away
the mass of encumbering material of thoughts,
so that you may bring
 into plain view
the precious thing
 at the center
 of the mass.

mumford & sons lyrics

Rip the earth in two with your mind
Seal the urge which ensues with brass wires
I never meant you any harm
But your tears feel warm as they fall on my forearm

But close my eyes for a while
Force from the world a patient smile

How can you say that your truth is better than ours?
Shoulder to shoulder, now brother, we carry no arms
The blind man sleeps in the doorway, his home
If only I had an enemy bigger than my apathy I could have won

But I gave you all

Close my eyes for a while
Force from the world a patient smile

But I gave you all

But you rip it from my hands
And you swear it's all gone
And you rip out all I have
Just to say that you've won

Well now you've won

of death and dying

And death is at your doorstep.

And it will steal your innocence,

but it will not steal your substance.

But you are not alone in this...

of all the places in the world... and of all the sounds.. i heard your voice

of all the era's ... you were born in that specific year
when good music was made
went to that specific University
and taught.
where equations and ratio's were important.
went to do that specific job
where kindness was not required
but you had tons
mentioned that your favourite was
Milan Kundera's Unbearable Lightness of being

and at that moment:
i heard

i heard you

engage

I recently read this article about
children being sent to therapists /
 coaches / specialists / psychologists
/ play specialists...

this is good:
"Obsession with thechnology
is eroding our sense of physical potential
and our sense of continuity of daily life..
2 decades ago children played ball,
dug tunnels and made bow & arrows.
They experienced their world directly,
and thus had a sense of time and space.
Now our lives involve less activity.
we push buttons, stare at screens or tablets rather than
interact with the forces of nature, earth, wind, waves, etc.

children spend time with computer games or watching Disney channel..
they don't learn about delayed gratification,
attention, engagement with another human....
they just flick through channels
and want new playstation games...
artificially getting a "sense of victory" when they finish a stage.

but hey: occupational therapy,
remedial teachers and child-psychologists make their money..

mmm......

what a wonderful experience...

I really enjoyed looking after Luca...
he is so gentle and self sufficient...
there really is no "looking after".
he made the best scrambled eggs this morning!

I could warm up the idea of children.... a baby next year perhaps?
mom says it is hard work to get them to age 11....
but it appears to be totally worth it!

person of the week: Tim Kring

ok, so I'm mildly obsessed
with the TV series: TOUCH.
person of the week:
Creator: Tim Kring.

I love it
I Love it.
I can't stop watching it !
Consciousness is all and everything in the virtual hologram
of our experiences brought into awareness by the brain
an electrochemical machine forever viewing streaming codes
for experience and interpretation.

Consciousness originates from a source of light energy
 for the purpose of learning.
The human biogenetic experiment is consciousness
brought forth into the physical by the patterns
of sacred geometry that repeat in cycles called Time.

Fox- broadcasting: TOUCH

There is a beautiful, touching show on FOX:
it is called TOUCH.

We are all interconnected.
Our lives are invisibly tied to those whose destinies touch ours.
This is the hopeful premise of the new drama TOUCH from creator and writer Tim Kring

Blending science, spirituality and emotion, the series will follow seemingly unrelated people all over the world whose lives affect each other in ways seen and unseen, known and unknown. At the story’s center is MARTIN BOHM (Kiefer Sutherland), a widower and single father, haunted by an inability to connect to his emotionally challenged 11-year-old son, JAKE (David Mazouz).

Caring, intelligent and thoughtful, Martin has tried everything to reach his son.

But Jake never speaks, shows little emotion, and never allows himself to be touched by anyone, including Martin. Jake is obsessed with numbers—writing long strings of them in his ever-present notebooks—and with discarded cell phones.

sit jou beste voetjie voor

ek dink sommer vanaand aan idiome,
sê-goed en die taalgebruik van vandag...
en toe voel ek nostalgies
en blaai deur ons trou-album
en raak sommer van vooraf verlief.
en toe kom die sinnetjie by my op:
sit jou beste voetjie voor...

nou ja,
lekker aand !

person of the week: The Queen of course

She wins this week's award because she has
awesome jewellery.
She is the envy of all....
She out- Blings everybody!
Her sceptre has mounted on its top:
such a beautiful diamond, it has its own name !
The First Star of Africa.
This is the largest flawless cut diamond in the world
and weighs 530 carats.

This and the Second Star of Africa
of 317 carats (in the Imperial State Crown)
were cut from the celebrated Cullinan Diamond,
the largest diamond ever found.
Weighing over 3,000 carats,
the Cullinan was given to King Edward VII
by the Government of the Transvaal (South Africa) in 1907.
She has big rocks !

our person of the week.
she has been a girl-guide since age 11
and was home schooled by the most imposing of minds...

She received tuition from her father, the king and
had sessions with Henry Marten, the Vice-Provost of Eton.
Religion was taught by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Princess Elizabeth also learned French from a number of French and Belgian governesses.

She studied art and music, learned to ride,
and became a strong swimmer.
She made such a beautiful speech on her 21st birthday,
which she celebrated in Cape Town.

Happy Diamond- jubilee!
Queen Elizabeth.
