engage

I recently read this article about
children being sent to therapists /
 coaches / specialists / psychologists
/ play specialists...

this is good:
"Obsession with thechnology
is eroding our sense of physical potential
and our sense of continuity of daily life..
2 decades ago children played ball,
dug tunnels and made bow & arrows.
They experienced their world directly,
and thus had a sense of time and space.
Now our lives involve less activity.
we push buttons, stare at screens or tablets rather than
interact with the forces of nature, earth, wind, waves, etc.

children spend time with computer games or watching Disney channel..
they don't learn about delayed gratification,
attention, engagement with another human....
they just flick through channels
and want new playstation games...
artificially getting a "sense of victory" when they finish a stage.

but hey: occupational therapy,
remedial teachers and child-psychologists make their money..

mmm......
